Cabrera is a town we have come to know and love. There is something special about Cabrera and the people who are its lifeblood. As newcomers to the town we have been welcomed and made to feel at home here. We have come to know Cabrera well. We understand many of the difficulties the local Dominicans have to face on a day to day basis even though they do so with a smile and an acceptance of situations which we would find difficult to tolerate in our home countries.
Go Cabrera has been designed to give visitors to the website an insight into the town, its people, the facilities, features and attractions Cabrera and the surrounding area has to offer. It is not a tourist town in the accepted sense of the word “tourist” and those who do choose to vacation here invariably comment on the friendliness of the people they have met and express a desire to return to enjoy the ambiance Cabrera radiates.
Most visitors to Cabrera are vacationers who have discovered the town on the internet or been recommended by friends who have stayed here before. Cabrera has also become a popular venue for destination weddings and many of the private villas located in and around the town offer all the facilities a bride could wish for. In addition Cabrera also benefits from visits from volunteers who devote some time here helping in the local community to provide some of the services which Cabrera, along with much of the Dominican Republic, lacks. One major project is the Acadamia International de Cabrera as also is The Esperanza Project both of which are schools offering a higher level of education than provided in State schools.
